| Edmund F. Ward
made his first illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post
before he was twenty. His early pictures were quite large, generally
with a dark tonality and seriously painted in oils. Over a period of
time he gradually changed to more humorous subjects and began to
work in wash and watercolor. For many years he illustrated the
Alexander Botts and Assistant District Attorney Doowinkle stories
for the Post. Ward was born in White Plains, New York, and
studied at the Art Students League in the same class with
Norman Rockwell.
He has spent his professional illustration career in White Plains
where he also painted a mural for the Federal Building. |
