Elbert McGran Jackson (1896-1962)
Although E.M. Jackson studied art as a child, he later went to college to receive a degree in architecture from Georgia Tech. After several years, he decided that what he really wanted to be was an illustrator. He moved to New York City and, with the help of more established illustrators, was able to make a living. Jackson’s graceful way of illustrating women led to a number of story commissions as well as cover assignments for such magazines as Collier’s, The Ladies’ Home Journal and The Saturday Evening Post.
